OVERVIEW

This project looks at the visual identity and video overlay assets that I designed for a new YouTube golf channel featuring some of the biggest names in the UK YouTube scene. Since its launch in April 2024, the channel has rapidly grown, amassing over 500,000 subscribers and 34 million views.

BRANDING

Early in the brand identity process, I worked closely with the client to define where they saw themselves in terms of brand personality, compared to other golf channels. They positioned themselves as more playful and engaging rather than overly serious.

After exploring various concepts, we settled on a unique combination of a bold sans-serif font paired with an italic cursive on the vowels to convey a sense of movement and motion. I also creatively replaced the letter ‘D’ with a stylised golf club, helping to connect the logo mark to the sport.

The colour palette was kept clean, using shades commonly associated with the sport, further ensuring both familiarity and visual appeal.

VIDEO ASSETS

Alongside the branding, I created a variety of overlay assets that could be used throughout their videos to enhance their viewer’s experience or understanding. I continued using bright, playful colours, as well as using a clear text hierarchy and spacing. This helped to make the visuals easy and quick to decipher, so as not to pull their concentration away from the video for too long.

FEEDBACK

“It’s been a great process working with Angus. He had his own ideas straight off the bat even before we gave him a brief, but once we did the whole project really came to life very quickly. He is an excellent communicator, his work was fast as well as high-quality, and we will definitely want to work with him more in the future.”
